We are finished!! check out our video here or on the youtube website and learn how we at Champlain College live as sustainable ninjas.

1. What was the most difficult moment in making this video?

Harnessing all of our energies and ideas into one constructive capacity. We had so many thoughts and concepts jungled around that it was hard to focus and not get too sidetracked.

2. Other than finishing it, what was the most rewarding moment in making this video?

Definitely the best part of this video was seeing all of our ideas and filming come together and start flowing. It was hard getting every detail of the video hammered out, but once we started to see that it would actually turn out good we were all really happy.

3. Discuss 3 specific lessons you learned about film production and/or "group process" in making this video.

I learned that you need to learn how to improvise because not everything is going to work out on the first shot. Also that you need a back up plan, you can't always rely on your team members. Finally, you must at least listen to other suggestions and give everyone a shot. You don't know who knows who and that could come back and bite you.

4. Discuss 3 specific things you learned about Champlain College and/or the "Sustain Champlain" project that you did not know before completing this project.

I did not know that “Sustain Champlain” was started so recently and that it has had as much influence over the campus as making sure that there are recycling bins all over campus and that there are also low flow shower heads.

I also was not aware that we used to have trays that but they got rid of them to cut down on wasted food which helps on the sustainable front.

Among the many things that I did learn the last one that I will touch on is the mug incentive program where if you go to Jazzman’s and order some kind of drink and bring your own mug they will fill it and give you a discount.

Sustainable Ninjas Meeting 4- Editing

Today was a success. We edited out any excess and created a full-fledged, kick-ass sustainable video.
In fact, we are about 98% DONE with the project! YAY!

Our concept did change a little because we made the decision not to include President Finney.
His voice was not strong enough for the video, and the actual visual aspect of the video was not very good.

We were a little anxious, because we were way over our time limit, but with some awesome timing
techniques, we got it down to almost exactly a minute and a half.

Here is our video sneak preview,
We hope you like it! This is just one example of the timing tools we used.

Meeting 2- Take One, Our First Day of Filming

First day out was okay. We took a long time creating posters that,
in retrospect,we probably could have done beforehand...

but all in all, a good first run through.

We walked through 3 of the 6 topics in our video concept and wrapped up all
3 of those scenes. Videos to come on this progress soon (hopefully).

We definitely need to go over exactly what is needed for each shot prior to shooting to avoid confusion or sloppy footage.

Another issue we had was students coming in and out of our shots unknowingly, which meant having to redo a perfectly good take.

Members present & their role:

Megs: Main character
Nikki: Side character
Jim: Lights etc. behind scenes
Ben: Camera Work
Okomo: Not present

Concept Changes?
We kept the main ideas the same, with minor detail changes that are hopefully better and more simple. The hardest part is probably taking our ideas and trying to work them out on film in a clear, sophisticated (sexy) way without losing the aspects that keep the video interesting.

The storyboard for our video, "A Day in the Life of a Sustainable Ninja" is as follows:

~Use Car Share vehicle, drive to Jazzman's cafe
~Get traveler mug discount for helping the company stay sustainable
~Go to dorm to throw laundry in before a big night on the town, motion sensor lights come on/off
~Throw clothes in high efficiency-low energy washer, accidentally spilled detergent on hands
~Go to bathroom to wash hands, leave water running, low-flow shower system, shut water off during conversation, drying hands, brushing teeth, etc to save on water consumption
~Recycle coffee person who didn't know about traveler mug discount, inverse to black & white and END! WOOHOO

NTG (note to group): black & white freeze could also possibly be used for each time we use a sustainable video/idea
